Presentation Title Controlled Synthesis and Dimensionalities of Metal Halide Perovskites by Solution-based Approaches

Abstract Scope Manipulating materials at the atomic scale and assembling them into macroscopic structures with controlled dimensionalities and single crystal quality are grand scientific challenges. We report the synthesis of high quality metal halide perovskites with controlled dimensionalities and tunable optoelectronic properties. Lead-free perovskites (Cs2SnIxCl6-x) are synthesized by a solution-based approach, and their optical properties and stability can be tuned through controlling the incorporation ratios of iodide and chloride. Single crystalline mm-sized Cs2SnI6 perovskite from three-dimensional (3D) to two-dimensional growth (2D) can be synthesized by controlling solvent conditions and Cs2SnI6 supersaturation at the liquid-liquid interface. A general solvent evaporation method is also developed to synthesize large area uniaxial-oriented growth of free-standing thin films at the liquid-air interface. The film thickness can be tuned by adjusting solvent evaporation rate (R) and solute diffusivity (D. The large area single crystal-quality films are demonstrated on both inorganic metal halides and hybrid metal halide perovskites.
