||Method development for rare earths selective extraction, separation and recovery from synthetic mixed rare earths leach liquors

Rare earth elements (REEs) were play a significant role in EEE manufacturing and natural availability of the REEs are very limited at Korea. The present experimental study was focused onthree REEs such as Dy, Tb and Nd mixed leach liquor was process for possible separation of the REEs each other/pair and maximum enriched metal recovery was studied. The hydrometallurgical method was developed for Dy, Tb and Nd mixed chloride leach liquors using organophosphorus derivatives. In a first step the pari of REES Dy-Tb was separated from Nd. The first extraction raffinate was further treated with commercial organophosphorus extractant D2EHPA (0.8 mol/L). Follwed the stripping process using 0.5 mol/L of oxalic acid and final end product was obtained 17.6 g/L of Nd. The loaded organic was analyzed by FT-IR spectra and final Nd2O product was confirmed by XRD spectral analysis. The developed method was environmentally friendly and economically feasible.
