Abstract Scope Recent experimental results show that many single-phase BCC-based refractory high entropy (BCC-RHEA) multicomponent alloys retain their strength to very high temperatures. Although the plastic yield behavior of these alloys has been modeled based either on screw dislocation mobility or on edge dislocation mobility, there has not been strong experimental evidence to support either of these assertions. A systematic experimental study of deformation substructure analysis has been undertaken in this study on a single-phase BCC based RHEA alloy. Samples were tested in tension from RT to 1000C and characterized for deformation substructures using a combination of electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD), electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The changes to the nature, morphology and character of dislocations as a function of temperature will be presented and discussed.
