Abstract Scope Thermal and electrical interfacial resistances directly limit the performance in many applications, and surface asperities play a major role in limiting thermal and electrical transfer. In this research, Metal-Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) nanocomposite and Boron Nitride Nanotube (BNNT) felt consolidations are examined as electrically conductive and electrically insulating conformable thermal interface materials (TIMs) at temperatures up to 300 °C. The thermal interfacial resistivity of these novel TIMs are compared to current state-of-the-art electrically conductive and electrically insulating greases.
