Scope |
Directed energy deposition (DED) encompasses a wide range of processing equipment including electron beam, laser beam, and arc heat sources as well as wire and/or powder feedstocks. Additional functionalities such as interlayer machining and forging are also possible with DED. Accordingly, considerable research is being conducted around the world to understand microstructure evolution and performance of metals and alloys processed with DED. This symposium welcome researchers to present on processing – microstructure – mechanical property relationships of metals and alloys processed with DED. Topics include (but are not limited to):
• Defect formation in DED processing
• Microstructure development during solidification and post processing
• Mechanical properties and performance
Presentations that combine modeling and experimentation to advance the state of the art in DED processing are encouraged. |
