| Abstract Scope |
INALUM is the first aluminium smelter in Indonesia, operating three potlines. Potlines 1 and 3 mainly use Sumitomo technology, supported by five EGA technology pots. In early 2023, pot performance declined, requiring a structured operational improvement approach. To restore performance, Operational Excellence was implemented as a holistic management approach to ensure safe, stable, efficient, productive, and continuously improving operations.
The program covers safety excellence, process stability, productivity improvement, continuous improvement, and maintenance reliability. Safety performance was strengthened through safety briefings, SOP reviews, and digital observation reporting. Process stability improved through better anode quality, higher equipment availability, early deviation detection, and consistent weekly operational meetings. Productivity increased through pot technology upgrading to 235 kA in Potline 2 and line current increase to 198 kA in Potlines 1 and 3. These achievements were enabled by cross-division synergy and strong leadership from the Operation Director. |
