Abstract Scope |
This invited talk will present a one-step approach for the direct-write process of laser-induced graphene patterning on either the top surface or the bottom surface of a polymer film. This side selectivity is achieved by engineering the interplay between surface properties and lasing process parameters. By combining experimental results with multiphysics modeling, kinetic effects will also be elucidated, wherein both the morphology and properties of the porous graphene electrodes are shown to be dependent on not only the laser power, but also the speed. The talk will also cover surface chemistry control based on engineering the chemical backbone of engineered polyimide precursor. In addition to optimizing the process for high electrical conductivity and improved electrochemical sensing performance, the talk will also include work on tailoring the surface energy for superhydrophobic properties. Finally, miniaturization of these electrodes will be shown toward fabrication of microelectrode arrays for electrochemical biosensing with high sensitivity. |
