    | Abstract Scope | We present in this work a multi-scale approach to design Ti-alloys with better strength-ductility combinations. The approach we follow involve tuning of the c/a ratio of the HCP lattice, as well as the overall phase constitution and crystallography, to be able to demonstrate gigapascal-level strength and >20 % tensile ductility. We reveal that such a property combination benefits from the near-ideal co-deformability of different microstructural constituents, the early-stage multiple slip activation, and the rare 〈c+a〉 dislocation cross-slip mechanism. |
