| Abstract Scope |
I was privileged to serve as Michael Barsoum’s co-PhD thesis advisor while he was a doctoral student at MIT. I have witnessed with delight, the successful application of his curiosity, sense of purpose and enthusiasm, evident in his thesis work, towards entirely new directions in the field of Materials, including his well-known and highly regarded research into the MAX class of phases. I plan to recount some of his activities while at MIT that foreshadow his later success as Distinguished Professor at Drexel University. |
