| Abstract Scope |
Synchrotron high-energy x-rays provide powerful tools for investigating microstructural footprints and dynamic behaviors of nuclear materials under coupled extremes, across multiple length scales and with high spatial, temporal, and reciprocal space resolution. This presentation highlights recent research and developments in the Activated Materials Laboratory (AML) and the Advanced Photon Source (APS) beamlines 1-ID and 20-ID, together as an integrated NSUF partner facility, showcasing cutting-edge instrumentation and in-situ multi-dimensional x-ray characterization techniques available for activated materials research. Highlights from user experiments will be presented. Additionally, a novel framework integrating near-real-time crystal plasticity finite element modeling coupled with in-situ experiments will be introduced, demonstrating the potential for predictive modeling to guide experiments with critical decision-making. These advancements underscore the transformative impact of synchrotron techniques in nuclear materials research. |
