| Abstract Scope |
ICME offers a potential paradigm shift in the approach to qualification and certification of structural metals. This is particularly important for additive manufacturing where traditional qualification approaches create a bottleneck which drastically hinders the potential impact. However, verification, validation, calibration, and uncertainty quantification are key considerations when applying ICME to solve real materials engineering problems. In this presentation we will discuss a framework QuesTek has developed in the ICMDŽ Software Platform to link component scale processing with microscale process-structure-property models to predict component scale fatigue performance of AM nickel-superalloys. Each model is verified, calibrated, and validated before uncertainty is propagated through the framework to enable prediction of minimum properties at the component scale for qualification and certification. Finally, combining the ICME-based predictions with limited experimental data using the Accelerated Insertion of Materials (AIM) methodology provides a pathway toward accurate minimum property predictions with significantly reduced time and cost. |
