| Abstract Scope |
Recycling waste glass can significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to its production from raw materials. However, the glass recycling has not been adequately progressed, because impurities contamination has a significant impact on the quality of glass products. In particular, Fe contamination in glass increases green or blue coloration so that, it is essential to establish a technology to remove Fe from glass matrix to promote glass recycling.
Therefore, we are investigating the removal of iron from glass by a reduction using a carbonaceous materials. In this study, we performed in situ observation of the reaction interface between iron-containing glass and carbon or silicon carbide and investigated the factors affecting the reaction rate. |
