Irradiated BCC alloys undergo dislocation loop formation, precipitation, and local composition variation. In body-centered cubic alloys, solute increases the lattice friction stress, supplementing the intrinsic lattice friction. In irradiated alloys, loop formation also contributes additional hardening. Current models of plastic strength in alloys are based on the dispersed barrier hardening models and do not account for the emergent effects in alloy yielding due to synergy among multiple mechanisms. In this work, we present a composition-aware dislocation dynamics (DD) methodology that captures such emergent effects. The approach is based on discrete dislocation dynamics, in which the solute effects are captured by detailed molecular dynamics (MD) and loop morphology is obtained by a machine learning analysis of loop size and character distributions and Monte Carlo creation of loop realizations within the DD approach. We demonstrate the overall approach for irradiated FeCr alloy, a base alloy for ferritic alloys used in fusion applications. |
