Abstract Scope |
This paper explores the transformative role of Coherent Jet (CoJet) technologies in modernizing Top Submerged Lance (TSL) and Top Blow Rotary Converter (TBRC) systems for non-ferrous recycling and smelting applications. With conventional air and enriched-air lances being replaced by 100% oxyfuel burners—including hydrogen-enabled variants—these systems facilitate enhanced heating, stirring, and reduction mechanisms across copper, lead, and E-scrap processing. The deployment of CoJet solutions unlocks significant gains in metal recovery efficiency, operational productivity, and scope 1 carbon footprint reduction. Performance metrics are evaluated through thermal modeling, fluid dynamics, and energy balances, showcasing the benefits of high-intensity jet interaction and tailored combustion profiles. Ultimately, CoJet represents a key enabler for sustainable metallurgical practices within the circular economy, aligning decarbonization objectives with production targets in high-temperature non-ferrous operations. |
