Abstract Scope |
Metal corrosion poses significant challenges in industries, impacting technical, financial, and environmental aspects. While synthetic corrosion inhibitors protect steel, the focus has shifted to green corrosion inhibitors, sustainable materials that reduce corrosion and enhance concrete durability. This article reviews diverse green inhibitors, aiming to identify gaps and trends in sustainable corrosion management. It categorizes environmentally friendly inhibitors, proposing selection criteria based on sustainability.
Natural corrosion inhibitors offer a promising, cost-effective, and sustainable solution for extending the service life of reinforced concrete structures. However, further investigation is needed to assess their technical properties and effectiveness under combined corrosive attacks. This study guides future research in civil engineering and corrosion management, contributing to sustainable progress and providing practitioners with insights into emerging green corrosion inhibitors. |
