Abstract Scope |
he purpose is to develop Mo-Cu composite materials with excellent thermal and mechanical properties and to present their potential applications in various industrial fields. In this study, Mo-Cu composite materials were fabricated using high energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering. Mo and Cu powders were milled using high energy ball milling in weight ratios of 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40. The Mo-Cu composites were fabricated using spark plasma sintering at 950°C under 60 MPa. The phase composition, microstructure, and thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal conductivity measurement, and Vickers hardness. As a result of sintering, no secondary phases formed, and the relative density increased from 82.8 to 90.1% as the Cu content increased. As the Cu content increased, the thermal conductivity increased from 122.8 to 158.8 W/mK. Hardness decreased from 591.2 to 395.2 Hv as the Cu content increased |
