Abstract Scope Planar defects such as stacking faults (SF), anti-phase boundaries (APB) and twinning are typical deformation products that originate during creep of a γ/γ'-based superalloys. These are formed during shearing of γ' L12 ordered phase by the moving dislocations. These shearing events are also related to local solute reordering resulting in a selective solute segregation effects to the planar defects. The present talk will be focused on the detailed 3-dimensional compositional analysis of these planar defects formed in a γ/γ' CoNi-based single-crystal superalloy during creep. Through correlative electron microscopy and atom probe tomography, SFs and APBs were captured along with their associated partial dislocations. These defects exhibit a characteristic chemical-structural contrast. Quantitative analysis of this three-dimensional compositional field in the vicinity of these defects sheds light onto a new in-plane diffusion mechanism as the leading and trailing partials moves on specific {111} planes upon application of stress at high temperature.
