Abstract Scope |
The extraction of rare earth elements (REEs) from iron-depleted red mud slag offers a sustainable approach for recovering critical raw materials. However, achieving high efficiency is challenging due to their diverse dissolution behaviors, chemical stabilities, and overlapping leaching kinetics mechanisms, which make it difficult to find unified process conditions suitable for REEs. This study examines the impact of leaching parameters and presents a rule-based framework for deriving interpretable decision rules. The supervised binning and Apriori algorithms were used for rule extraction on the data collected from the scientific literature. This approach enables simultaneous REE recoveries exceeding 70%, with a confidence level of over 80%. These rules also establish a foundation for autonomous leaching control systems, where reinforcement learning can dynamically adjust parameters in real time. Overall, this study lays the groundwork for the intelligent and scalable optimization of leaching systems, thereby supporting the circular utilization of complex secondary sources. |
