Lorentz 4D-STEM (a new variant of 4D-STEM in magnetic field-free mode) has been used to simultaneously record crystallographic anti-phase domains and magnetic structure. New analysis pipelines were developed using Hyperspy and Pyxem, with TEM superlattice dark field imaging and STEM-DPC used to help validate the results from this novel technique. This investigation was completed on FeCo soft magnetic alloy, which undergoes an ordering transformation from BCC(A2) structure to CsCl(B2) structure. Previously, ordering has been challenging to measure due to the small atomic number difference between Fe and Co. Using this technique, it was possible to record weak {100} superlattice reflections and to use them to form virtual dark-field images of the anti-phase domains across a large field of view (4x4 μm). Magnetic domains were determined through the Lorentz deflection of the diffraction pattern. Enabling magnetic domain boundary interactions with microstructural features, such as low-angle tilt boundaries, to be clearly identified. |
