| Abstract Scope |
Increasing usage of steel scraps in steelmaking has raised concerns over the castability of the steels. Previous results from mechanical testing indicated a decrease in ductility between 950°C and 1400°C and that toughness impact results varies with varying concentrations of Sn and Sb present. To investigate the phenomena at the observed temperature range, in-situ high-temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy (HT-CSLM) was used to observe the solidification behavior of various steel concentrations. This work aims to understand whether the solidification behavior varies with tramp element concentrations and consequently, the high-temperature ductility of the steels. |
