Abstract Scope |
Dislocations are lattice defects that control the mechanical property of crystals, and it is important to understand their behavior during plastic deformation. In this study, we investigated dislocation motions and reactions upon loading at the atomic level by in situ mechanical testing using transmission electron microscopy and a MEMS based loading device.
In the presentation, we will show experimental results including the formation processes of a stair-rod dislocation in a fcc metal and dislocation motion by the climb mechanism in an oxide crystal. Local strain distributions and atomic structural changes accompanying those phenomena will be discussed in detail. |
