| Abstract Scope |
We performed time-resolved in situ tomography combined with diffractometry (4D-CT + XRD) using synchrotron radiation X-rays at SPring-8, a Japanese synchrotron radiation facility, to observe the dendritic growth of hcp-TIAl alloys. The growth directions of the dendrite arms were determined by combining the dendrite morphology observed by 4D-CT and the crystallographic orientation measured by diffractometry. The dendrites grew along the multiple crystallographic orientations, demonstrating a unique selection of the preferred growth directions. We will discuss these growth directions in terms of the anisotropy of the solid-liquid interface energy. |
