Understanding the underlying mechanism of larger cluster defect diffusivities and defect kinetics in structural material is fundamentally challenging especially at higher length scales. In this presentation we use the Free Energy Cluster Dynamics model in the MOOSE/Centipede framework to shed light on the kinetics and diffusive behavior of vacancy and interstitial point defects and their clusters (i.e. up to cluster size of 10). The model tracks vacancies, single interstitials, and their clusters using data from Molecular Dynamics calculations. From 300 - 900 K, we examine the impact of temperature on the kinetics of Al self-diffusivities and how different cluster size responds to change in environmental factors such as temperature. Further, we examine the diffusivities of clusters of different sizes and estimate their steady state concentrations, in addition we investigated the impact of different grain boundary strength on self-Al diffusivities. Finally, we established how void swelling affects self-diffusivities in Al microstructure. |
