| Abstract Scope |
Carbosilane provides a liquid material that can be converted to crystalline SiC. This can be used to densify ceramic matrix composites, make monoliths, and coat material. Control of the curing with crosslinkers and catalysts is vitally important to provide preform stability, high conversion yield, net shaped parts, and crystalline material. We show that carbosilane can be cured with UV and latent cure systems to form high yielding material that can also be crystallized. This work contributes to achieving better preceramic polymer processing routes toward organic–inorganic materials manufacturing for SiC. |
