Abstract Scope |
In this study, we use cold spray, HVOF, and plasma spray to process a eutectic high entropy alloy consisting of soft FCC and hard BCC/B2 lamellar structure. XRD results indicate that all coating samples have experienced different extends of phase transformation. As characterized by SEM and WDS mapping, the processing environments of HVOF and plasma spray favour the formation of Al2O3, showing high extends of elemental segregation of the Al in the NiAl rich BCC/B2 phase. Hardness on both the coating surfaces and cross-sections is increased due to the precipitation of oxides. Cold sprayed samples show phase transformation with preservation of the lamellar microstructure and no significant signs of elemental segregation or oxidation. Cold spray is a promising manufacturing technique for the deposition of HEA coatings. |
