| Abstract Scope |
Lepidolite is one of the most important lithium-bearing minerals, containing 1.5% to 3.5% of this alkali metal. Lithium is currently considered a strategic element in the energy transition due to its reducing properties specifically, a reduction potential of -3.042 V relative to the standard hydrogen electrode making the separation and recovery of this mineral for lithium extraction a crucial issue. This study evaluates the flotation of lepidolite using dilute concentrations of dodecylamine sulfonate (DAS) 5, 10, and 15 g/t at pH 11, with particle sizes of +75, +45, and -37 μm. The results show that lepidolite recovery decreases as particle size decreases; with 5 g/t of DAS and a particle size of 75 μm, an efficiency of 94% is achieved after 10 minutes, whereas for 37 μm particles, efficiency drops significantly to 37%. This decline is attributed to surface changes detected via infrared analysis. |
