Abstract Scope |
This study presents the development of Al-Mg-Si alloy materials and optimized processing routes for automotive structural applications, utilizing a strip casting approach. Strip casting enables near-net-shape production of aluminum alloy sheets with refined microstructures, reduced processing steps, and enhanced energy efficiency compared to conventional ingot casting. Through tailored alloy composition design and thermomechanical treatment, the Al-Mg-Si alloy sheet achieved improved strength–ductility balance and formability, meeting automotive structural requirements. Microstructural evolution, precipitation behavior, and texture development during casting and downstream processing were systematically analyzed to optimize mechanical performance. The integration of alloy design with strip casting technology offers a cost-effective and sustainable pathway for producing high-performance aluminum components for lightweight automotive bodies. |
