Abstract Scope |
EGA is the world’s largest premium aluminium producer and still, new production capacities are explored to come on stream soon. Skilled leaders will be required in key positions of the new production facilities. EGA has chosen R&D Carbon as the partner to develop a tailor-made program to support the future leaders for building technical leadership capabilities.
The concept of the technical leadership program consists of six milestones that were achieved by the first cohort within 35 weeks. In parallel to the theoretical and practical activities on shop floor, the preparation of a diploma thesis was a crucial part of this training experience.
The theses covered the topics of carbon dusting, spike formation, burn-off, anode cracking and increase of anode production capacity. Based on their newly acquired skills, the graduates could demonstrate the improvement of the KPIs using real data of EGA and show how the anode performance issues are interlinked. |
