Abstract Scope Tissue engineering strides to regenerate lost or diseased tissues. There is a growing recognition of 3D matrix and biomolecule microenvironments in regulating the fate and function of stem cells for target tissue regeneration. Our lab designs biodegradable polymeric biomaterials inspired by the extracellular matrix (ECM) to modulate 3D microenvironments on the micro, nano and molecular scales for stem cells to regenerate tissues. We also develop nonviral vectors for RNA and DNA delivery to regulate tissue regeneration or to treat diseases. Examples of these biomaterials will be presented for their applications in bone, cartilage, dental, and cardiovascular tissue regeneration.
