| Abstract Scope |
Natural fibers offer a sustainable, lightweight, and cost-effective alternative to carbon-intensive traditional polymers and ceramics. This research investigates the performance of cement-based composites incorporating agricultural and industrial by-products, specifically rice husk, cork waste, and coffee grounds, fabricated using traditional casting methods. To evaluate different manufacturing paradigms, these specimens are compared against polymer-matrix composites reinforced with the same natural fibers and fabricated via additive manufacturing (3D printing). Acoustic properties were characterized by using an impedance tube apparatus in accordance with ASTM C384. Additionally, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of the materials' physical properties alongside their key manufacturing parameters. |
