Abstract Scope |
Mantel is a molten salt-based carbon capture company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company operates out of facilities equipped for advanced R&D and pilot-scale testing, with team members based across the United States and Canada to support key projects and commercial engagements. Founded in March 2022, Mantel has rapidly scaled its molten borates carbon capture technology from the lab to commercial scale demonstration. With large projects underway, the role of lab scale pilots is forced to evolve from proof of concept to the testing of extreme conditions and novel components. The flexibility of operating conditions and ease of replacing system components allow the value of lab scale testing to remain high. However, the ability to balance troubleshooting and derisking commercial operations in parallel to IP development and fundamental R&D, ultimately dictate the success of lab operations. |
