| Abstract Scope |
The rare-earth intermetallic compound Sm7Pd3 exhibits interplay between dominant ferromagnetic (FM) and weaker antiferromagnetic (AFM) interactions. This competition, underlined by significant magnetocrystalline anisotropy and structural topology involving three inequivalent Sm sites, gives rise to magnetic frustration and emergent glassy states, which co-exist with a long-range magnetic order. Our comprehensive ac and dc magnetization study reveal two distinct types of glassiness in the ordered state: (1) an intrinsic spin-glass-like behavior originating from frustrated FM-AFM exchange due to the asymmetric crystal environment, and (2) a domain-glass behavior caused by field-induced pinning of domains into metastable states and magnetic viscosity.
