| Abstract Scope |
Natural biological structures, in particular, moth’s eye and lotus leaf inspired the development of low-refractive index antireflective glass film that embody omni-directional optical performance and superhydrophobic, self-cleaning properties that holds significant potential for solar panels, lenses, detectors, architectural windows, optical components used in weapons systems and in many other products. These coatings consist of an interconnected network of nanoscale pores within a nanostructured silica framework providing excellent durability while enhancing photovoltaic current output by 3–7%. They also retain their optical and water-repellent performance under simulated sandstorm conditions. In addition, we discuss the development of chemically stable, phase-separated TiO2/Cu2O ceramic thin films with exceptional water-shedding properties for advanced energy and environmental applications. |
