Crystallographic texture evolution of Titanium alloys in a secondary TMP schedule involves variant selection in a complex transformation pathway. Present study explores variant selection through in-situ X-ray texture measurements for various (α+β) Titanium alloys in as-cast and deformed conditions. Initial α-texture in as-cast alloy consists of strong basal fiber that gradually transits towards prism fiber with increasing temperature although with constantly decreasing intensity. β phase shows ζ and γ fibers in as-cast while only γ-fiber in deformed condition. In deformed alloy, strong basal α-texture in (0002) pole figure intensifies with additional but pronounced prism texture developing at higher temperatures. β phase texture on the other hand weakens as temperature increases. Reconstructions of X-ray texture data is carried out by altering variant selection propensity as a function of materials conditions (pre-deformed vs. as-cast) and alloy chemistry (increasing beta content). |
