| Abstract Scope |
The transition of the construction sector towards sustainability has sought alternatives to reduce carbon footprint and energy consumption. Within the circular economy, the replacement of natural fine aggregates with construction and demolition waste (CDW) is proposed, seeking to maintain mechanical and workability performance. In this research, Portland cement (OPC) was used as cementitious material and waste brick (RBA), concrete (RCA), ceramic (CWA) and glass (RGA) were used as fine aggregates. The objective is to evaluate the effect of waste on the mechanical performance and workability in mortars. Compressive strength and fluidity were measured at early ages (3 and 7 days). Through loading and unloading cycles, the mixtures with the best results had the stress-strain diagram constructed and the Young and Poisson modulus measured. Finally, a finite element (FEM) analysis of the data was carried out. In this way, we seek to demonstrate the potential use of CDW as sustainable materials. |
