| Abstract Scope |
The Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) additive manufacturing process utilizing bound-metal feedstock is a relatively new technique for fabricating metal parts. It can provide cost advantages, and a wider material selection, when compared to other additive manufacturing techniques such as laser powder bed fusion. Aluminum alloys are desirable lightweight structural materials. This study built on previous work we performed with 6061 aluminum alloy bound-metal feedstock. New fabrication, debinding and sintering schedules were developed to optimize the consolidation of the 6061 aluminum samples. Significant densification improvements have been achieved using vacuum sintering techniques. Processing-Microstructure-Mechanical property relationships were investigated in order to reduce defects and obtain the best mechanical properties. |
