Abstract Scope |
The best laboratory data comes from recreating the in-service environment as closely as possible. Unfortunately, the multiple hazards involved with recreating nuclear reactor environments can make measurement challenging.
This talk will present multiple corrosion experiments in flowing and static molten salts and irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking experiments in high temperature water. These experiments will include various combinations of uranium, irradiated materials, beryllium, and poisonous gases like hydrogen fluoride. I will discuss how we extract data from them without seriously injuring ourselves, using a variety of in-situ and ex-situ diagnostics. |
