Hexagonal ferrites (or hexaferrites) have attracted great interest for their use in electronic and microwave devices. Due to their complex structure, high frequency response, and large magnetocrystalline anisotropy, they are intriguing to study both fundamentally and for their practical applications. Their magnetic and electric properties are also tunable through chemical substitution, proving their versatility and efficiency. These qualities make them promising candidates for use in antenna, data storage, and spintronics. Of these compounds, the Y-type is one of the few classes of hexaferrites that also possess multiferroicity. Here, we investigate the nuclear and magnetic structure of Y-type BaSrCoZnFe11AlO22, which has an ordering temperature of T ≈ 365 K. Below the ordering temperature, this compound exhibits a conical spin structure, which we categorize using elastic neutron scattering data. |
