| Abstract Scope |
ABET accreditation is essential for continuous improvement in engineering education, yet many faculty find the process intimidating and opaque. This uncertainty creates significant stress during visit preparation and perpetuates the misconception that meeting ABET requirements is separate from effective student education. In reality, most accreditation challenges stem from misunderstandings of ABET's criteria rather than insufficient effort.
This presentation demonstrates how programs can integrate ABET requirements seamlessly into their educational mission. Beginning with a brief overview of current ABET criteria, the session provides practical guidelines for developing effective self-study reports and preparing for successful site visits. Time for questions will be incorporated into the presentation and the presenter will also be available during the following break. |
