Abstract Scope |
Rare earth free permanent magnets have attracted significant research interests recently. Experimental and theoretical calculations have demonstrated that (Fe0.7Co0.3)2B exhibits large magnetization, high Curie temperature and moderate magnetocrystalline anisotropy, and is a promising candidate as rare-earth free permanent magnet. However, development of effective synthesis method to enable high coercivity is still a challenge. Up to now, the reported coercivity is limited to 900 Oe.
In this work, we have synthesized (Fe0.7Co0.3)2B nanoparticles by a wet-chemical approach in air, argon and nitrogen environment. The as-synthesized samples demonstrated tetragonal phase in argon and nitrogen atmosphere, while cubic phase in air. The as-synthesized samples demonstrated a coercivity of 1037 and 1061 Oe in argon and nitrogen atmosphere, respectively. The heat-treated samples exhibited improved coercivity (>1500 Oe) and high magnetization (140-160 emu/g) in argon and nitrogen atmosphere. |
