Abstract Scope |
Digital glass forming is an additive manufacturing approach. Glass filament is locally heated as it is fed into the intersection of a laser and workpiece so that it fuses with the workpiece. Plastic deformation of the laser-heated region leads to different morphologies depending on the force applied by the filament feed and the workpiece as well as the local temperature field and constitutive properties of the glass. The local glass forming problem is studied for two problems: coaxial heated deposition of glass tracks and printing open cell lattices. |
