| Abstract Scope |
Based on a numerical model of fluid flow and heat transfer, the effects of the shape and dimensions of the side and bottom outlets of the flow divider on the flow field, temperature field, and solidification behavior during the continuous casting of large-format aluminum alloy slabs were investigated. The results indicate that square side outlets can effectively suppress free-surface fluctuations and improve flow uniformity, with the best overall performance obtained at a side-outlet height of 40 mm. Circular bottom outlets help mitigate the concentrated impingement of high-temperature molten aluminum on the solidification front. When the bottom-outlet diameter is 55 mm, the molten pool profile becomes flatter and the solidified shell thickness is distributed more uniformly. These findings provide a theoretical basis for optimizing the flow-divider structure and improving continuous-casting quality. |
