| Abstract Scope |
In recent years, hydrogen-based direct reduction has gained prominence as a sustainable pathway for reducing CO₂ emissions in ironmaking. This investigation presents experimental results on the reduction behavior of industrial iron ore pellets using a thermogravimetric setup designed for accurate real-time weight loss measurements. Isothermal reduction experiments were performed at 700-1000 °C under pure hydrogen. The microstructure, and chemical composition were examined at two key stages: an intermediate state (~50% reduced) and near-complete reduction (>95% reduced). The results revealed notable differences in the morphology of the reduced products and the degree of metallization across the pellet radius. |
