Abstract Scope |
Gas burners are essential in industrial furnaces, yet their efficiency often ranges from only 20% to 60%. Novamet’s SmartBurner offers an innovative online monitoring system that combines a real-time digital twin with artificial intelligence to detect performance drifts and anomalies during burner operation. The system delivers insights via user-friendly dashboards or daily reports, enabling proactive responses from maintenance and operations teams. This article presents a SmartBurner implementation on a 25-ton furnace with a regenerative burner, using two years of operational data. The model successfully identified and quantified performance drifts and their impact. Results show that SmartBurner can help improve burner efficiency by 2–5%, significantly reducing energy waste. SmartBurner empowers technicians, process engineers, and plant managers to optimize combustion performance, reduce emissions, and enhance the overall efficiency of industrial furnace operations. |
