Abstract Scope |
Functionalized low-dimensional materials have earned significant interest due to their unique properties compared to traditional bulk systems. Similarly, multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) are attracting attention because of their excellent mechanical, chemical, thermal, and electronic properties. The elemental diversity, tailored active sites, thermal and chemical stability and adjustable electronic properties make them particularly appealing for high-performance functional catalysts. In this study, we explore functionalized nanoparticles based on MPEAs as high-efficiency reaction catalysts, focusing on the correlation between structural and functional properties. Specifically, we examine MPEAs nanoparticles composed of transition and noble metal mixtures for their ability to activate carbon for C2+ production. Various SPM techniques are employed to investigate the structure and electronic properties. Desorption measurements are used to quantitatively assess the thermal-catalytic performance of these nanomaterials in controlled environments. Additionally, X-ray based techniques, XAS/XPS are utilized to study surface chemical states, the roles of oxides, and atomic coordination. |
