| Abstract Scope |
Understanding irradiation effects is critical for the development of structural materials in nuclear environments, where radiation-induced damage can severely degrade performance. This study explores the irradiation behavior of additively manufactured austenitic steel A709 and ferritic/martensitic G92 as advanced alternatives to traditional austenitic steels like 316L and 316H. Pre and post characterization was conducted to assess microstructural evolution and mechanical property changes caused due to the ion-irradiation. These findings highlight the potential of additively manufactured new-age steels as next-generation nuclear structural materials with improved radiation tolerance and mechanical performance. |
