Abstract Scope |
Co–Fe–Ni medium entropy alloys with FCC structure offer good ductility but limited strength. To enhance the strength, Al and Ti were added in this system. Phase predictions of Co30Fe30Ni20Al20-xTix HEAs (x = 5, 10, and 15 at.%) were calculated using Pandat 2024 software through point calculations at 1173 K. The results serve as a reference of two elements, Al and Ti, on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the CoFeNi-based MEAs. Three different compositions of Co30Fe30Ni20Al20-xTix HEAs (x = 5, 10, and 15 at.%) were fabricated using arc melting. The Co30Fe30Ni20Al20-xTix HEAs (x = 5, 10, and 15 at.%) exhibited phase transformation, from FCC + L12 + L21 phases, to FCC + L21 phases, and BCC + B2 phases respectively. Density measurements revealed that the overall density decreased with increasing Al content and decreasing Ti content. The lowest value is 7.31 g/cm3 which was measured in Alloy Co30Fe30Ni20Al15Ti5. |
