| Abstract Scope |
Tungsten Carbide with cobalt binder (WC-Co) parts are used in oil and gas industry equipment as wear parts in pumps, motors, and other rotating equipment for many decades. Primarily, WC materials provide wear, abrasion, and corrosion resistance in some of the most aggressive well conditions. Cermet composites are notoriously inferior wear, toughness, and thermal shock as compared to WC-Co industry standard material. Surface treatments on cermet composites are compared for improvements in toughness, wear, and thermal shock resistance. |
