| Abstract Scope |
Optimization of pyrometallurgical processes requires access to accurate data of the physical properties of the slags involved. Viscosity is one of the most important physical properties in pyrometallurgical processes, in view of its direct effect on the kinetic conditions of the processes and is one of the key factors to be taken into consideration in process modeling.
The difficulty and high cost of measuring the viscosity of slags and its components has led to the development of number of viscosity models. Some of these models employ parameters extracted from experimental data of viscosities of other substances. The main objective of this work is to review the high temperature viscosity of copper oxide and slag systems containing copper oxide. The data will be used to estimate the viscosity parameters for copper oxide in slag systems, which is crucial for optimizing the pyrometallurgical processing of copper. |
