Abstract Scope |
Anode effect (AE) occurring in aluminum reduction cells produces strong greenhouse gases (PFCs), disrupts the production process, and reduces current efficiency. Therefore, precise diagnosis and timely treatment of AE are crucial. This paper develops a system that can rapidly diagnose AE based on the response characteristics of zone anode current to AE. The system can also timely treat AE by feeding. The system was practically applied and tested on a 400kA cell, enabling efficient detection and timely extinction of
low voltage anode effect (LVAE), suppressing the conversion from LVAE to high voltage anode effect (HVAE). This approach reduces the hazards of AE, significantly improving the operation stability and efficiency of aluminum reduction cells. |
